OUR TECHNOLOGY

electroform™ uses advanced electrochemical polishing to deliver consistent, high-quality surface finishes across a wide range of complex components.
Unlike traditional polishing methods, electroform™ offers a controlled, automated process that eliminates manual variability, reaches complex internal features, and delivers repeatable, high-quality results with minimal waste.

ELECTROCHEMICAL REACTION

diagram graphic showing electrochemical waves
A controlled electrical current flows between the anode (the part) and the cathode, triggering an electrochemical reaction. Metal ions are selectively removed from the surface and carried away by the electrolyte. Our CFD-optimised system ensures even, precise material removal across the entire surface – including internal features.

Smoother surfaces

Starting with a rough component, electroform is designed to smooth and remove surface material from a metal object. The component is secured onto the part holder and lowered into the machine’s electrolyte bowl. The setup is designed for easy handling and repeatable positioning.

RAPID TURNAROUNDS

Once the cycle is complete, the part is removed from the holder with a uniform, clean finish. Surface roughness is significantly reduced, powder residues are removed, and the part is ready for use – all achieved in rapid turnaround times.

BENEFITS OF electrochemical polishing

Electrochemical polishing (ECP) is a highly effective process used for refining metal surfaces by removing a thin layer of material to enhance surface quality.

Improved surface finish

ECP smooths surfaces, reducing roughness for improved aesthetics and functionality.

Increased corrosion resistance

By removing contaminants and micro-imperfections, ECP enhances the corrosion resistance of metals, increasing the durability of parts.

Deburring

The process removes sharp edges and burrs from metal surfaces, improving safety and performance in end-use applications.

Enhanced material integrity

By reducing surface stress and imperfections, ECP helps improve fatigue strength, making parts more robust.

What sets electroform™ apart?

Holdson’s electroform™ technology takes the benefits of ECP to the next level with advanced features that deliver superior results compared to other methods of surface finishing.

TIMING COMPARISON

Holdson’s process allows for the acceleration of processing times, reducing cost and increasing throughput of post-processing for metal components.

electroform™ is designed to take extremely rough parts and make them fit for use in most applications in rapid turnaround times. The speedy, automated process reduces resource demand, in turn, increasing productivity as well as efficiency.

Compared to traditional steps and competitor solutions, electroform™ can take a metal component of any input roughness and provide a considerable surface improvement within 20 minutes.
