Internal channels

internal channel
polishing

Where other tools stop, electroform™ goes deeper.
Additively manufactured parts often feature complex internal geometries – cooling channels, flow paths, or hollow lattice structures – that are impossible to reach using conventional finishing methods.

These internal surfaces are just as critical as external ones, affecting part performance, reliability, and hygiene. electroform™ is one of the only surface finishing solutions capable of delivering consistent results inside these features.

how we do it

Our internal channel polishing approach uses a combination of CFD-optimised electrolyte flow and, in select cases, flexible tooling attachments that enable electrolyte movement through narrow, curved pathways.

The result is a method that, even in its standard form, achieves smoothing and powder removal deeper than abrasive tools or blasting ever could. For highly specialised geometries, we work with partners to design and develop bespoke tooling solutions that meet their application needs.

what is achievable

These features are already being polished using electroform™, with consistent and repeatable results.

Currently not achievable

While these geometries exceed the limits of standard ECP and current flexi-tool setups, they’re not off the table forever.

bespoke solutions

For manufacturers producing parts with challenging internal geometries at scale, Holdson offers long-term collaboration through R&D projects. We work directly with partners to:
If your design falls into the ‘not yet achievable’ category, we’d love to talk. With the right use case, production volume, and time investment, a tailored internal channel polishing solution can be built around your needs.
