OUR STORY

ORIGINS

The concept for Holdson was formed as a result of a collaborative project with The Advanced Propulsion Centre.
Aaron Holt and Neil Dickinson, were responsible for polishing and smoothing the internal material of turbochargers to improve gas flow, and ultimately fuel efficiency.

Through this project, our founders began to investigate different post-processing methods to achieve the surface finish required, without altering the part’s geometry.

Ultimately, the project led our founders to electrochemical polishing. After months of research, the pair began developing an electrochemical polishing process that proved to be more economically competitive than traditional methods for smoothing cast or additively manufactured components .

This process formed the foundations of our electroform technology.
Holdson began trading in April 2023, following an intensive period of research and development. As the electroform™ process evolved, the team grew and the first prototypes were constructed. Over time, the technology proved its value, delivering results up to six times faster than competing post-processing methods – capable of reducing extremely rough surfaces to as low as 1RA, all within rapid production turnarounds.

TODAY

electroform™ is protected by UK-based intellectual property, with patents secured and further developments underway. Our technology has gained international traction across sectors looking for reliable, scalable surface finishing solutions. We’ve expanded our machine range to suit every application – introducing the ef-150, ef-300, ef-500 and ef-700 – to meet the needs of manufacturers across industries. And we’re just getting started.

MEET THE TEAM

At Holdson, we’re powered by engineers, innovators and problem-solvers who are passionate about redefining post-processing. Our team brings together deep technical expertise and a shared drive to make manufacturing simpler, smarter and more scalable.

OUR COMMITMENT TO
SUSTAINABILITY

Sustainability isn’t just a feature of our technology – it’s a guiding principle in how we build and operate. From sourcing materials locally to designing machines that minimise waste, every decision we make is rooted in long-term environmental responsibility. Our electroform™ systems use acid-free electrolytes and recyclable consumables, and our circular supply chain allows for electrolyte purification and reuse – reducing both environmental impact and on-site storage needs.

By keeping our manufacturing and supply chain local, we not only support British industry but reduce carbon emissions, lead times and overproduction. Sustainability has been considered at every step of our journey – from initial concept through to everyday operation.

OUR HOME

We’re proud to design, build and support all electroform™ systems right here in the UK. From our Northern base, we’re helping to drive British innovation in manufacturing.

HEAD OFFICE

Our head office is where ideas are born. It’s the heart of our operations, where our team collaborates, problem-solves and pushes boundaries to shape the future of post-processing.

DEVELOPMENT CENTRE

Our development centre is where ideas come to life. This is home to hands-on innovation – where concepts become working machines and electroform™ technology is tested, refined and perfected.
