We’re excited to announce that Additive Manufacturing Solutions (AMS), a UK-based leader in sustainable additive manufacturing, has integrated our electroform electrochemical polishing technology into their operations to enhance post-processing efficiency and surface quality.

This partnership began earlier this year when AMS approached Holdson in search of a more effective and sustainable post-processing solution for complex AM parts. Following successful trials using our electroform system, AMS made the decision to bring the technology in-house to support their production capabilities.
AMS, headquartered in Lancashire, is recognised for its work in powder manufacturing, materials testing, and AM process optimisation. Like many working with additive technologies, they’ve faced challenges with the rough surface finishes that often result from 3D printing. Our electroform technology provides a transformative solution – delivering smooth, consistent finishes while preserving intricate internal features and geometries.
Manufactured in the UK, Holdson’s electroform machines offer precise, repeatable surface finishing through electrochemical polishing. The system is particularly effective for hard-to-reach internal channels and complex structures, areas where traditional mechanical methods fall short. By eliminating manual bottlenecks, electroform helps to improve productivity, reduce costs, and maintain high part quality.
“Simplifying post-processing is essential to unlocking the full potential of additive manufacturing, our technology bridges the skills gap and delivers a sustainable, repeatable method that empowers manufacturers to focus on innovation.”
Neil Dickinson, CTO, Holdson
Sustainability was a key factor in AMS’s decision to adopt an ef-300 machine. Our process uses acid-free electrolytes and enables recycling of consumables, helping AMS further reduce its environmental impact across operations.
“We were thoroughly impressed by the results achieved during the initial trials with electroform, bringing this technology in-house opens up new possibilities for us to enhance surface quality, reduce processing times, and meet the high standards our clients expect.”
Robert Higham, CEO and Director, Additive Manufacturing Solutions
This collaboration underscores the importance of strong, local partnerships in driving innovation across the UK’s manufacturing ecosystem. By combining Holdson’s post-processing expertise with AMS’s material innovation, we’re proud to support the next generation of sustainable, scalable AM production.
